Greetings,
My name is Ian and I am 18 years old and live in a town called Mundelein in Illinois, just outside of Chicago.
I've been into black metal for several years now, probably getting into it through the obvious bands like Dimmu and Cradle, who now bore me to be honest, and then falling in love with the likes of Emperor and Darkthrone and so on. My introduction to the post-black metal scene came with the self-titiled full-length from Amesoeurs. That record absolutely blew my mind cause I hadn't heard anything like it before that point and it was pretty much my album of the year for 2009 (it was #2 after Katatonia's Night Is The New Day).
I'm a fan of a lot of styles of music from extreme metal, black and doom being my personal fav. but I do enjoy a lot of old-school death metal and a little bit of thrash now and then. Aside from metal I love avant-garde music, classical, ambient, drone, noise, shoegaze, post-rock, funk, psyche/prog rock, post-punk, etc. (my fav. band of all time is Faith No More by the way). If I had to site my fav. bands in the post-black metal scene, I'd have to say bands like Amesoeurs, Lantlos, Shyy, Celephais, Cold Body Radiation, Crooked Necks, and Circle of Ouroborus.
In my free time, I run a music blog/webzine called Don't Count On It Reviews and have my own project called Vooram
