Hello all!
I'm Joost from the Netherlands. My musical interests are quite wide, but I prefer most to listen to music that is more on the atmospheric side.
'On-topic' bands that I listen to would include: Agalloch, Sólstafir, Alcest, Krohm, Lunar Aurora, Ulver, Wolves in the Throne Room, Arcana Coelestia, Smorzando and most probably a few others. Beyond that, I listen to quite a bit of folk, ambient and dark ambient, post-rock, but also to classical (esp. 20 century composers, and most specifically Russian composers such as Scriabin and Roslavets) and progressive rock. (On the other hand, I never really got into the 'typical' bm bands like Darkthrone or Mayhem. I tried, but it's just not my kind of thing.)
Beyond that: lover of nature, searcher, spiritual-but-not-religious, often nostalgic, and with a firm belief that life is too exciting to approach with a dogmatic attitude.
More later, I guess!
I did not wish to live what was not life, living is so dear; nor did I wish to practise resignation, unless it was quite necessary. I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, to live so sturdily and Spartan-like as to put to rout all that was not life, to cut a broad swath and shave close, to drive life into a corner, to reduce it to its lowest terms, and, if it proved to be mean, why then to get the whole and genuine meanness of it, and publish its meanness to the world; or if it were sublime, to know it by experience, and to be able to give a true account of it in my next excursion. -- Henry David Thoreau
