| Thought I should introduce myself since it is deemed mandatory. Please don't take this as an exercise in narcissism. I think that I accidentally broke the rules when I skipped the order and posted my project Distorted Cognitions. I hope you won't hold that against me. My name is Jesse and I am from USA (I hope you won't hold that against me either, the people lost control to the corporations long ago). I enjoy many types of metal including black, depressive, doom, funeral, post, sludge, folk and some drone (Nadja is okay, Sun O))) not so much). I am absolutely opposed to all forms of commercialist, cookie monster grunting gore lyrics death metal. I also enjoy classical music and some electronica (ambient not techno). Some of my favorite bands include: Well known (everyone has heard of these): Xasthur, Leviathan, Burzum, Nadja, Isis, Wolves in the Throne Room, Mayhem, Alcest, Lantlos, Dissection, Drudkh, Enslaved, Ensiferum, Hate Forest, Ulver, Moonsorrow, Nachtmystium, Twilight, Wealking, Wedard Further underground (highly recommended that you check these out if you aren't familiar): Sapthuran, Nortt, Apatharia, Black Autumn, Boreal, Elysian Blaze, Dark Castle, Ahab, Frail (now Crooked Necks), Forefather, Gris, Kilte, Krallice, The Last Days, Les Discrets, Angmar, Make a Change Kill Yourself, Unjoy, Means to an End, Moon, Paysage d'Hiver, Raate, Sombres Forets, Tomhet, Wolveserpent. My project, Distorted Cognitions, is an ambient (I wont say black but others have) metal project. I have three releases so far and I intend to release a fourth and final album in the beginning of 2012. The primary focus of the content is parallel to my own interests of science (memetics, quantum mechanics, kinetics, psychology and biology) and philosophy (mainly epistemology, determinism and phenomenology). However, I'm not really sure if psychology counts as science or philosophy, maybe this should be subdivided into behaviorism (science) and sensation-perception (phenomenology). I won't compare the musical style to any other band/project. There are free downloads at http://distortedcognitions.webs.com/ If you check it out I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks! | |

| Whereabouts in this lovely nation are you from, Jesse? Have no fear, the posters here have shown no (open ) contempt towards myself nor any of the other Americans whom post here. |

| I am from Columbia, South Carolina. Thanks to everyone for the welcome! I do not wish to hate on America in principle. I think this country has a brilliant system of government as well as great philosophical foundations. (Well, maybe some things could be eliminated: electoral college, private political campaign funding, slogan "in god we trust", theocratic influence, etc.) The problem is not America, just the sellouts in charge. Then again, I guess the very definition of politician is a sellout. | |
