| Does anyone else find "Sur l'océan Couleur de Fer" to be one of their greatest songs? It goes very well with "Circe Poisoning the Sea", I often listen to them consecutively.. The lyrics are short but poignant, and the moaning brings to mind a great feeling of loss and longing. It has personal meaning to me as well, as when I first heard this song (I was finally listening the whole album through), I was on a bus in southern Poland, returning to the small mountain village I was staying in briefly with my girlfriend from a mid sized town called Nowy Targ, where we had gone to attend an Irish Folk concert. It was late at night, and the moon was full.. The bus was winding through these empty mountain roads, which had been beautiful during the day, but at night, became something else. The moon filled the valleys with a lovely tone, and then there was this large lake, it's waters completely still and reflecting the moon and stars... The nearest city was hundreds of kilometers away, so there was no light pollution, and it was just a magical experience, and this song was playing as we drove around the lake... I will never forget it, that is for certain.
Also, I can not wait for their concert in Boston on the 26th, when they will be opening for Enslaved! (The other bands performing will be Ghost and Frozen). |

| It's a very nice story ! Thank's for sharing your experience with Alcest ! I've got mine (since it's my favourite band) : I live just near a big forest and I love to have a walk, listening to "Printemps Emeraudes"' which fits perfectly with the surroundings...
I can't wait for the third record, "Les voyages de l'âme", moreover, we should talk about this next record in the section news!

| Yes, their music, whether it is meant for it or not, fits perfectly with walking alone, especially at night. It has energy yet at the same time makes one reflect and contemplate, and since that is part of what I set out to do on walks in the first place, it only enhances the experience. In your introduction you say you live in Paris, yet you mention a big forest, so is it a large park, or are you on the outskirts of the city? |

| In fact I'm living in the suburb, 45 minutes/one hour by car to reach Paris so I really live in the countryside, it's a big forest, not a little park. A forest with many paths, trees, vegetations. I'm very far of high buildings ect... | |

| In fact in my countryside, we're 700 inhabitants but the city with which we're connected (but I'm at 4 kilometers of the center!) account 12 000 inhabitants | |

So not too many at all, actually, the city you are connected to sounds like my hometown, which has about 15,000 people. |

That's interesting. I agree, I'd add that "Ecailles de Lune" fits perfectly at night (waw the title say Moon, thanks captain obvious...) and more prefeably on a seashore BUT I found that "Souvenir d'un Autre Monde" fits way more perfectly to the day, and even more (and this is fucking rare for that kind) to a SUNNY day. ("Printemps d'émeraude" imply sun, thanks again captain obvious). I was stoned when I figured this out x)

| I agree and the frontcover of the records confirmed these feelings ! Plus, "Souvenirs" is more acoustic than "Ecailles" and there are no harsh vocal on "Souvenirs" which, I agree, is a very sunny record. | |

| I had not considered the thought of Souvenirs being a "sunny" record, but it does make sense, and as Abyssos points out, the album cover really does convey that sort of mood, as does the art for Ecailles serve to reference it's perfect association with the night. I have had no chances to experience them along the seashore, of course "Sur 'lOcean Coleur de Fer" would be perfect in such a situation. (More obviousness, seeing as it of course mentions the ocean right in the title. xD) |

| That is a thing to experiment absofuckinglutely.
Last summer I was on the beach, at night, with nobody around. Close enough to hear the sound of the waves, the sky was clear and black, the moon was full and reflecting on the restless dark sea. I Set down on the sand, lighted a cigarette and played Ecaille de Lune (the whole album). I swear, I stayed hours. Until the morning. And smoked my entire pack.

| As do I, it sounds incredible. I wish that I could drive, or was at least within proximity of the ocean, as it is roughly two hours away from me (excluding traffic).. I could go to the beach at the state park, but it isn't the same.. There is an island on that lake though... |

Did something similar in Greece this summer. Stayed all night on the beach, the sky was a bit clouded and the moon was full. I listened to Flowing Tears & Withered Flowers - Swansongs and The Last Days - When The Tomorrow Is a Grey Day I drank one beer since I don't smoke (mostly because I don't have a regular income of money to support the habit. On topic: Alcest is a brilliant band! I must listen to them live as soon as I get opportunity to do so.
